UMARATU
Umaratu is a foundation focused on preserving the weaving culture of Sumba and empowering local weavers to reach wider markets, both nationally and internationally.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE BEHIND UMARATU?
Our community consists of women weavers from various villages across Sumba, especially from remote areas that still preserve traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations.

PRODUCTS HANDMADE
Yes, all the fabrics and woven products we feature are handcrafted, created using traditional Sumba ikat techniques that have been inherited for generations.

WHERE DO THE PROCEEDS FROM PURCHASES GO
A large portion of the proceeds goes directly to the weavers and is also used for training, the development of the Umaratu community, and to support the foundation’s operations.
